There has been a little gap in updates as we wanted to announce what we have been up to with our Touchy and Greenlight projects but that does not mean we have not been beavering away on Icebreaker at the same time….nobody sleeps here don’t you know!
This update covers a little about the characters in the game. Because our web games have a short turnaround time we rarely get to explore the characters in the game world so we made sure to make the most of it this time.
We explore the characters mainly through in game conversations they have. It is quite like how we did it in our Rubble Trouble games but we have made more tools to explore this further than we did in those games.

It's the start of another brand new week here at Nitrome HQ and it just wouldn't be the same without some more Pixeloving.
This week we would like to highlight the game ‘Magnet Kid’ a hard as nails puzzle platformer by ‘Strange studios’.
It’s your task to guide your magnet marching robot to the end of each stage. The trick here is that you can switch your characters polarity and use this to avoid the many dangers in your path. Why not use your powers to stick and hitch a ride on a moving platform? or use it as a shield to protect from enemy fire and lazers?...The list goes on for some really interesting (and uhmmm very difficult) magnet mechanics.

Ok so hopefully we managed to surprise you with this!
Flightless will be, with your help, our first full PC download game available through Steam!
The game is an epic puzzle metrovania platform game for one or two players drop in drop out co-op split screen! You play as ducks that have had their wings clipped for stealing and to pay it back you must search for gems to pay back your debt in a huge dungeon full of monsters and traps.
With clipped wings flying and even jumping are not possible but luckily you have a magic ladder to help you out. Press the action key and it will cast a ladder upwards or downwards until it hits something.
Use this to climb round the levels, take out enemies, trigger switches, weigh down pressure …

The truth is we have been so busy with exciting stuff this week that we just didn’t have time to tell you about it ... but next week... next week we will reveal all (well lots anyway).

Hello Nitromians, once again it’s time for us to give out some Pixel Love.
Today we’d like to highlight a game that deserves to be noticed in this wonderful world of the web! Snow Tale is a beautifully crafted platformer from Neutronized.
The run, jump, shoot control method will feel very familiar, and this isn’t a bad thing. With such an enjoyable formula you’ll be snowballing through the levels in no time. However there is more to this game than meets the eye. Popping in and out of houses and getting loads of enemies with the shoot-freeze-kick mechanic is very satisfying. Combine this with the ground pound and end level bosses, makes this a great little platformer.

Wow… we’re super busy here at Nitrome towers! Lots going on at the moment… we thought now would be a good time to give you more details on the Nitrome Touchy app. You may have read the teaser blog we posted previously, well today is another red letter day in the development of this brand new venture.
We have launched a new section to our website dedicated to Nitrome Touchy. This gives you more information about this up and coming release. So if you fancy it, check it out.
As always we will be releasing more information regarding the development and games over the coming days. There is an FAQ section on the home page but if you have any questions please feel free to ask away in the comments section and we will answer them as quickly as we can.

This week’s Pixel love goes out to the highly talented crew over at PixelJam. Corporate Climber a highly enjoyable platformer created for Adultswim.
The aim of the game is to climb the company’s office floor by floor, slowly working your way up through the ranks until you reach the top of the corporate ladder.
This has been a huge office favourite for some time now, as there is just so much to like about it. From the clever pixelated office environments to the humorous and dark depiction of a huge corporate company. If you haven’t tried this game then it’s well worth the 20 mins or so it will take you to reach the end.

It’s a fairly typical everyday affair...You take control of the brave red knight in his dangerous quest to save the princess from the evil sorcerer.
However...This dungeon is not what it first appears to be, you must make your moves wisely and keep a close eye on your enemies if your are to prevail...Make one wrong ‘turn’ and all will be lost...

This weeks Pixel love goes out to Five, a nifty little puzzle platformer by Z3LF
This reminds us a lot of the Continuity series or our own In The Dog House game. In which the player must navigate a series of rooms by swapping them via the mouse. The big problem being that not all of the rooms quite line up how you might expect, and there’s a tough five minute timer in place for added pressure.
Z3LF have really managed to cram a lot into this five minute little package. It’s got bags of atmosphere, nice music, cute little tiles/sprites and even a small story in there to boot.
