Today's pixel love comes in glorious ASCII form as stealth game demake G0 (Ground Zero) made by hexDecimal
We really love the way the lighting has been created in this game. We felt it essential to the sneak and hide atmosphere. The randomly generated levels make for great replay value too.
This really is the finest barebones approach to a tactical roguelike stealth game.
A reminder that the Icebreaker LAUNCH SALE will end in a few days. So get it this weekend and grab yourself a BARGAIN before it ends.
We’ve had a lot of positive feedback on the Android and Kraken update so far, but we realise that a handful of people have been experiencing some issues.
We have fixed a crash at the start of the game. It was an Issue that was affecting devices running Android 2.3.x. We are also looking into any other problems people have reported including a crash on iPad 1. An update will be uploaded as soon as we have a fix…

Apologies for those of you patiently waiting in the wings for the Kindle release. We are still having some issues with their store, but rest assured we are doing our best to get it to you ASAP.
Next week we’ll update you with all the latest Icebreaker news. There will be a pixelove in the usual slot... and who knows we might even have a brand new game for our website as well.
The day has finally arrived. Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage is OUT NOW! on Android. The huge release comes with brand new levels on all platforms. Check out the video above to see a glimpse of the sheer awesomeness that awaits inside the brand new Kraken pack update.
40 Brand new Levels (making a total of 140+ levels)
Tons of exciting new features, enemies and characters.
we are in the office now and we have just been onto both Google Play and the Apple App Store and hit the launch buttons. They could take a few hours to actually turn up on the store but feel free to start hammering the refresh button on your store of choice if you want to be first :)
Which store will launch first? Which Nitromian will be the first to download it? Who will be the first to show they have it with one of the new Avatars? Soooooo exciting
we let our friends at Pocket Gamer have an advanced play of Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage on Android which included the new Kraken level pack and they wrote up some impressions:
"Given that I lost track of time and spent longer playing the forthcoming level pack for the Gold Award-winning Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage than I intended, I'd say it's pretty darn good."
Today we have got a great Pixel Love game for you to check out, The Valley Rule by Ryan Carag and Bill Kiley.
The game has both a very well crafted ambient soundscape with highly polished pixel artwork.
The gameplay and level structure is really well put together. The only down side of this game is that we'd love to have more of it, but for a game that was made in 72 hours (We are astonished at the level of finish this game has for the time scale it was created in), we think this is a real gem.
with only 5 more days to go we felt it was a good time to start a countdown for the Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage android release! We hope you are all excited... it has been a lot of hard work but we hope you will agree it was worth it.
It will also be the launch day for the Kraken update on iOS (and yes it is in the Android build too). Anyone who has an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch that has not already downloaded the game can do so here.
So look to the side panel and count down with us for the release next Wednesday!
We know we are being very Icebreaker news heavy at the moment so for anyone not as into Icebreaker (shame on you!) we have lots of other interesting things that we have been working on too including new flash games and we'll start sharing once we get Icebreaker out :)
For those of you who haven’t noticed, we have just released a BRAND NEW SKIN!
We thought that our last skin was a little out dated, being a winter theme and all. So we have made a brand new Ditto based background for you all.
Why Ditto? I hear you ask. Well... in a nutshell, it’s one of our latest games and one that we are particularly proud of. For those of you who missed the game you can play Ditto here.
You can change the website background, view the full skin, or even download it by visiting the skin page here: http://www.nitrome.com/skins/
Are there any other games that you would like to see have their own skin?
We've got a great Pixel Love game for you today, Cathode Raybits!
WARNING: There is some profanity from the outset of this game so play at your own discretion!
If you enjoyed playing Mega Man, we think you'll really like this one. The artwork looks fantastic and the sounds are authentic to the era, giving us some real nostalgia. Be warned, this game is really difficult! :)
Guess what we just had delivered to Nitrome Towers? Our Pocket Gamer Awards….Horray! We are all super thrilled to get our first proper award for a mobile game. They are super heavy glass based awards and look really pretty on the shelf J For those who missed the earlier post we managed to win ‘Best Casual/Puzzle Game’, ‘iOS Game of the year’ and the big one ‘Overall Game of the Year’. Thanks again to Pocket Gamer and everyone who voted for us!
Apple just posted their second Indie Game showcase to their editorial section and this time it features Kumobius who are best known on the app store for their hit game Duet and their pixelrific Time Surfer an Beans Quest.
More relevant to Nitrome is that they very kindly chose Icebreaker as one of their favourite games which is highlighted in the piece. Always awesome to get in the App Store editorial section! Thanks Kumobius!
We are finally ready to reveal the release date for Icebreaker on Google Play and Android and the launch of the Kraken pack update accross both Android and iOS!
Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage and the Kraken update will be available on May the 7th!
With our HUGE Icebreaker update now submitted to stores and under review. We thought we would share a something AWESOME whilst we wait. That something being ‘Delicious Caviar’ of course...
This has got to be one of the coolest and playful additions to the new Kraken pack yet. Giant caviar (fish eggs) can be found deep within the body of the giant sea beast. They’re pop-able like bubble wrap, stick to almost anything, they can fire from cannons, build bridges, work as safety nets... kinda useful no?
On a further note:
For those of you who missed our announcement on Thursday. The update has been submitted for review on the stores (Play, Amazon and App Store). Just to give you all a rough timeframe, the stores…

For those of you who missed our announcement on Thursday. The update has been submitted for review on the stores (Play, Amazon and App Store). Just to give you all a rough timeframe, the stores give a guide of up to a maximum of two weeks to review an app. When Icebreaker has been given the go ahead by these, then we can finally let you guys know a release date.
As we have previously mentioned, we want to make as big as splash as possible with Icebreaker: A Viking voyage and keep updates in sync. So we want the big update to be a simultaneous launch across Android, iOS and Amazon stores.
More news on the release and update of Icebreaker when it becomes available.
